OpenID Connect Support

We are announcing OpenID Connect support for prelink.

Complex passwords can only provide a certain level of security.

We have had numerous requests and enquires about security related topics, such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), compliance, reporting, etc. from current and prospective clients. So, we decided it was time to take the plunge.

There are several possible bolt-on solutions out there however, with so many companies moving towards identity platforms, zero-trust, single sign-on (SSO), etc. for all their security and compliance requirements for employees, we decided that OpenID Connect (OIDC) was the answer.

E.g., if a client already has a Microsoft/Office 365 subscription for employees, why force them to make new prelink user accounts when they can login with their Microsoft accounts? They have all the security, compliance, authentication, and authorization functionality from the Microsoft Identity Platform.

Using an Identity Platform allows the client to specify or mandate the exact requirements for authentication, such as the type of multi-factor authentication (MFA), FIDO hardware keys like Yubikey, geo-fence authentication locations, schedules/time periods, etc. This provides a much higher level of security than complex passwords.

We have tested prelink with our own Microsoft 365 subscription and Microsoft Identity Platform however, it should work perfectly with other OIDC supporting platforms, such as Google, Okta, Auth0, etc.

Get in touch if you would like to chat about OIDC, or if you would like to test or query your current Identity Platform.
